Ophthalmic surgeon and patient at the centre of a personalised lens-surgery consultation

How can we help surgeons give patients better vision without glasses?

We came together to answer this question.

Bringing collective expertise into surgeon-controlled clinical intelligence for lens surgery.

Why we came together

One clinical challenge. A shared purpose.

Better vision begins with understanding the person behind the patient.

Lens-surgery planning means bringing patient priorities, diagnostic findings, surgical options and predicted functional vision together — then helping each patient understand what those choices could mean for their life.

After more than four decades in cataract, corneal and refractive surgery, Milind Pande founded CustomLens AI to make specialist reasoning more accessible, consistent and reviewable.

Our group brings clinical, scientific and technology expertise together around that purpose. The platform supports the reasoning. The surgeon retains clinical judgement and the final decision.

Our direction

Our vision

Better vision. For more lives.

A future in which more people worldwide benefit from better vision without glasses after lens surgery, with care shaped around their eyes, their priorities and their lives.

Our mission

Support the surgeon. Improve the possibilities.

To help surgeons improve unaided vision outcomes for their lens-surgery patients by making specialist expertise more accessible through surgeon-controlled clinical intelligence.

The people behind the purpose

Different expertise. One shared question.

CustomLens AI began in clinical practice and has been built through complementary expertise in ophthalmology, artificial intelligence, regulated products and medical software.

Our principles

The decisions that shape how we build.

Personalisation, explainability and surgeon control are the foundation of our platform.

01

Think vision,
not IOLs

Begin with what the patient wants to see and do - not with a lens category.

02

Personalise around
the patient

Bring the patient's eyes, priorities, activities and tolerance of compromise into every plan.

03

Scale expertise
without removing
surgeon control

AI structures information and presents insight. The surgeon examines, challenges, modifies and decides.

04

Make predictions
understandable

Translate predicted functional vision into clear expectations about possibilities, limitations and likely glasses use.

05

Build evidence before
making claims

Use verification, usability studies, pilots and real-world outcomes to support measured, defensible communication.
