ℹ️ Tip: If your login fails, confirm with the CustomLens team that your account is active and credentials are correct.

This is where the surgeon will define their individual surgical preferences, which influence the algorithm’s output.

When to Complete:
  1. Immediately after your first login.
  2. Accessible anytime via the Preferences tab or menu.
Typical Preferences Include:
  1. Preferred IOL models or brands
  2. Target refractive outcomes (e.g., emmetropia, mild myopia)
  3. Handling of edge cases (e.g., borderline axial lengths)
  4. Preferred lens types for special conditions (e.g., toric, panfocal)
  5. Changes are saved and immediately applied to all subsequent algorithm runs.

🔄You can update these preferences at any time. It is advisable to review them periodically.

After logging in:

  1. You are directed to a dashboard displaying all test patients.
  2. The Patient Dashboard page displays a set of patient records, available for the surgeon to review and process. The patient journey is displayed in a flow chart style. The patient journey stages for each eye undergoing surgery are as follows:
    • History
    • Examination
    • Diagnostics
    • Surgeon Preview
    • OR Ready
    • Surgery Note
    • Post Op
  3. Each stage is color coded to indicate its status:
    • Red: Stage not yet started
    • Orange: Stage currently being processed
    • Green: Stage completed
  4. Click on any stage icon to review or update that section of the patient record.

Each patient entry includes:
  1. Patient name (anonymized)
  2. Eye (left or right)
  3. Surgery stage indicators (e.g., green = complete, grey = pending)

Click any patient row to expand and review or edit their details. Each row includes shortcuts to:

  1. History forms
  2. Diagnostics
  3. Surgeon Preview
  4. Surgery workflow (OR Ready, Surgery Details, PostOp)

✅ Prefilled patients are available up to the Diagnostics Page to allow direct testing of the algorithm features.

Tabs to Review/Edit:
  1. Lifestyle & Assessment: General history and visual goals.
  1. Medications & Allergies: Existing meds and known allergens.
  1. Refractive History: Prior lens use, refractive surgery, spectacle corrections.
  1. Ocular Examination: Clinical findings (IOP, cataract grade, etc).
  1. Diagnostics: Uploaded images, measurements, and supporting scans.
Editing Process:
  1. Click into any section.
  2. Make your changes.
  3. Click Save before exiting the section to preserve updates.

❌ Unsaved changes will not affect algorithm results and may be lost on navigation

To run the surgical planning algorithm:
  1. Navigate to the Diagnostics Page.
  2. Confirm that all required diagnostic uploads (e.g., topography, biometry) are present.
  3. Click Submit for Surgeon Preview.
  4. The algorithm evaluates:
    • Patient data
    • Surgeon preference form
    • Uploaded diagnostics
  5. You are then redirected to the Surgeon Preview Page.

ℹ️ If any required data is missing, the button will remain disabled. Review all tabs to ensure completeness.

This page displays:
  1. Key clinical findings
  2. Risk alerts (if applicable)
  3. The system generated surgical plan
Viewing Output:
  1. Output remains blurred until you provide consent.
  2. Consent is given via checkbox or confirmation popup.
  1. Once accepted, the following are displayed:
    • IOL recommendation
    • Power selection
    • Visual acuity predictions

Use this interface to confirm, adjust, or override the recommended plan.

If the surgeon disagrees with the system’s output:
  1. Click the Alternative button to view other IOL options.
  2. Select a preferred alternative or document reasons for deviation (if available).
When Changes Require a Rerun:

Any updates to:

  • Patient history
  • Ocular examination
  • Surgeon preferences

…will automatically trigger the algorithm to rerun when you return to the Surgeon Preview page.

🔄 You may also navigate back to Diagnostics and manually click Submit for Surgeon Preview again.

Once the algorithm is accepted or modified:
  1. Step 1: OR Ready Page
    • Displays the surgical plan (IOL, power, incision details).
    • Also shows predicted visual acuity post-surgery.
    • Review all fields and click Save & Proceed.
  1. Step 2: Surgery Details Page
    • Enter actual surgery information:
    • Date of surgery
    • Surgeon performing the procedure
    • Any operative notes or deviations
    • Click Save & Proceed.
  1. Step 3: PostOp Data Page
    • Capture postoperative results:
    • Visual acuity (Day 1, Week 1, etc.)
    • Complications, if any
    • Medication changes
    • Click Save to complete the workflow for that eye.

⛔ You must save the Surgeon Preview before these workflow pages are unlocked.

How to add second eye surgery:

To add a second eye surgery for a patient, the first eye surgery and its postop data must be completed. After entering the postop data for the first eye, navigate to the dashboard and click ‘Add Surgery’ to create the second eye surgery. This must be done within 4 weeks of the first eye’s postop date.

Second eye pre-op patient history and examination:

To copy the patient history and diagnostics document from first eye, Select No for:

  1. ‘Any changes since first eye surgery in medication and allergy history?’
  2. ‘Does this patient need a repeat diagnostic for the second eye surgery?’
  3. The system will automatically copy first eye’s data, including diagnostic documents.

The rest of the process—Running the algorithm, Surgeon Preview, OR Ready, Surgery Details and PostOp—are same as first eye.

❌ If a surgery is created for the same eye a second time, it is treated as a new surgery (First eye surgery), not a Second Eye Surgery.

  1. To test multiple first and second eye surgeries, repeat the steps outlined above.
  2. Follow the workflow to ensure complete and accurate testing of patient records.
